Kiev Pictures. Kiev Photographs. Insider look at Kiev's streets.
The majority of Kiev pictures presented on this page was given to me by Tasha Jallois, our Kiev Interpreter and Guide. Tasha is not a professional photographer, but she has some special approach to the objects taking the pictures. Perhaps, you've already seen a lot of pictures of Kiev if you are going to travel Ukraine some day. Most likely, very many of them demonstrated places of beautiful Kiev which are very well known around the world.
On May 1982 Kiev celebrated its 1,500th anniversary. UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) included this day into the International List of significant dates of the world's history.
Certainly there were good reasons for this decision. During many centuries of its history Kiev accumulated a lot of architectural, archeological, cultural, and spiritual treasures to be proud of.
Even if you have never visited Kiev, these names, perhaps, sound familiar for you: Khreschatyk Street,Kiev-Pecherska Lavra Monastery and Catacombs, St. Sophia Cathedral, Golden Gate, National Opera House, Mariyinsky Palace, Andriyivsky Uzviz, St. Andrew’s Church, Independence Square, Folk Architecture Museum (Pirogovo). This list can be continued and would take a lot of pages. All these places are our national treasures and tourist usually try to visit them first of all.
A slide show based on Tasha's Kiev photos is a little bit different. During her excursions she tries to open the curtain to that Kiev which is not very well known and is hidden from the regular tourists who visit Kiev. She calls it "Kiev Secret Places Tour." If you would like to have better idea about Ukraine culture and Ukrainian soul, this kind of excursions is for you.
Besides famous attractions Tahas's Kiev pictures reflect a lot of what I would name "street charm". If one day you visit Kiev, try to find those street sculptures you can watch here. Unlike some modern sculptures and monuments of the many big cities in the world, they are warm and have some special spirit. People love to touch them, take pictures, just to stay by.
