Map of Ukraine

I still think that the most convenient map of Ukraine to use is an updated folding paper one. Nevertheless this Ukraine map (a new window opens) is the best I could find on-line. Let's start our journey through Ukraine - the second largest country in Europe.

Map of Ukraine.

Ukraine's overall territory is 603,700 sq.km. It is large enough to locate six European countries on it: Austria, Holland, Denmark, Belgium, Switzerland, and Portugal. On the map of Ukraine you can see that there are seven neighboring countries bordering Ukraine: Russia, Bielorussia, Moldova, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania.

14 percent of the Ukraine territory is covered with forests, 5 percent - with mountains (Carpathians and Crimean). All the rest are steppes. The endless famous Ukrainian steppes which soil is the most fertile in the world.

If you look at the map of Ukraine, you can see that southern part of Ukraine is washed by the Azov and Black Seas. Ukraine land boundaries are 4663 km long, while its coastline is over 2,500 km long.

The highest point of Ukraine is Hora Hoverla (2,061 m )located in Carpathians. According to one of the scientific calculations, geographical center of Europe is located in the Carpathians near the city of Mukachevo. The highest point of the Crimean mountains is Hora Roman-Kosh (1,545 m).

There are 71,000 rivers and streams in Ukraine. 67,000 of them are shorter than 10 km. Dnipro (Dniepr) is the largest among them and the 3-d largest river in Europe.

Ukraine's time zone is GMT+2 (Greenwich Mean Time + 2 hours). Here is our local time now:

Most part of Ukraine has temperate continental climate. It is pretty mild: average temperature of the warmest month (July) is 23 degrees Celsius (74 Fahrenheit). The coldest month in the central part of Ukraine is Janury with an average temperature -7 degrees Celsius (20 Fahrenheit).Crimean Peninsula is located in the zone of the Mediterranean climate.

The most popular tourist destinations in Ukraine are:

Crimea (attracts 30% of all visitors)

Ukraine’s capital city Kyiv. (another 30%)

City Lviv and Carpathians.

City of Odessa

There are a lot of Ukraine maps which can be found on-line. I've spent pretty much time looking for them. That one (see the link at the top of this page) which I found for you is the best one. But you still can buy an updated folding paper map of Ukraine once you arrive to there. Most likely it will be a big city: Kiev, Odessa or Simferopol. They should have them at any hotel, book store or a newspaper booth in the street.
