Have question about planning your trip? Ask here!

Your travel to Ukraine can be either a very enjoyable experience or a small nightmare. Everything depends on the way you have prepared for your tour. A well-known proverb states: an optimist would say a glass is half full, while a pessimist would say it is half empty. How does it relate to your travel to Ukraine?

Map of Ukraine Let's check the map of Ukraine (new window opens ).

Ukraine is the second largest country in Europe in terms of landmass and third largest in population. Today tourism became one of the fastest growing branches of Ukraine economics.

The most popular among foreign travelers destinations are: Kyiv (attracts 30% of all foreign visitors), Crimea (another 30%), Carpathian region including Lviv , and Odessa.

This beautiful country possesses many outstanding historical, cultural and scenic sites. Nonetheless, standards of tourist infrastructure: hotels, restaurants, taxis, air and ground transportation may be different from what you are accustomed to.

Be prepared for these differences. Accept them and you will have a great time during your travel to Ukraine. Let's always keep our glass half full!

What is the best way to travel Ukraine?

  1. Just visit your Ukrainian friends. Don’t you have any? You will certainly have them after you visit the country at least once! Ukrainian people are well-known for their hospitality. According to our traditions, guests have to be well-fed and entertained for as long as they stay at our home. Staying with your Ukrainian friends, you will be able to see the most interesting places during your stay in Ukraine.
  2. In case if this is your first travel to Ukraine, and you don't have good language skills the best way is to contact reliable travel company. There are about 3,000 of them, operating in Ukraine and holding licenses from the Derzhkomturizm (State Committee for Tourism). They will gladly arrange accommodations of any types, provide hotel reservations, help to choose the best routes in Ukraine and arrange an expedite delivery of tickets.
  3. At the same time, you have to realize that any tour operator is the "middle man". As a result, you will have to pay some extra fees for their services. Your expenses can be significantly reduced in case if you find independent Ukraine Guides and Interpreters who will answer all questions about your trip to Ukraine and provide professional travel assistance and services at a fraction of the cost of a tour operator.
