Vacation in Ukraine, Crimea.

I and my wife would like to visit Ukraine in the 2nd half of September. We love nature and would like to see as much as possible of Ukraine and spending as less as possible.

Where do you suggest we go and what are the must see things? Note that we don't really like museums and stuff like that.

SUMMER IN UKRANE
by: Maria

I don't know where you are traveling from but assuming either UK or Canada. Bare in mind that Ukraine is a beautiful country but traveling is much more exhausting that in UK. Just buying train tickets can be a problem with queues etc.

Also amenities are variable in standards for example a lot of toilets are similar to Asian toilets (with the 2 feet prints) which can be awkward if not used to them and pregnant:)

This year in Western Ukraine they have had a poor (weather) summer but it could mean that nature will provide a late summer.

September in Carpathians will be similar to continental Europe. In the Crimea the weather will be warmer. If you wish a Ukrainian experience go to Carpathians, it is more Russians in Crimea.

In my personal opinion Kyiv can be like any other capital - people, culture and expense. I love Lviv and its European feel. The Austrian- Hungarian architecture of a small city with lots of things to do. A lovely hotel is the Grand Hotel. It is pricey but great food and service. In many hotels in Kyiv it is pricey with poor service and food. What I do is to take a sleeper to Kyiv for the day and back again and this way no hotels. If you have never been to Kyiv you can do the sights in a day.

Hope this helps.

Vacation in Ukraine.
by: Ukraine-travel-advisor.com

Fadi,
I think that you should spend most of your vacation in Crimea. No wander people call this period of a year " a Velvet Season".

There are at least three good reasons to do so.
1.It is still very warm in Crimea in September.
2. Beautiful nature and zillions of places to visit (for those who love nature especially).
3. Not too much people around to make noise (kids and students are at their schools already).

Carpathian mountains is a beautiful and quiet place to spend time, but temperature there will be lower than in Crimea in September.

To give you more ideas about detail planning your trip to Crimea and Ukraine, let's invite our experts.

Regards,
Dina.
